Snow continued through much of yesterday getting reasonably heavy at times in the afternoon. It mostly cleared through the night though and today there is a little cloud remaining about the mountain with some light snow falling. Beyond the mountain it's mostly clear and sunny in the region. Today and tonight is expected to remain mostly fine and tomorrow is still expected to be quite mild with temperatures getting a couple of degrees above freezing at the base.
Thursday is expected to snow as a low pressure trough moves across Hokkaido. It will be quite mild at first and the snow at village level is likely to be wet. It shouldn't rain but it may get close to it. It will cool a bit on Friday and snowfalls are expected through the weekend.

Avalanche Information:

Annupuri base 6am: -10℃, clear sky and no overnight snowfall. The Sea of Japan is calm and no snowclouds are present. A moderate 10m/s NW wind is persisting at the peak, making some snowdrifts of windblown snow develop in leeward slopes. Although some tracks are remaining, the slopes are mostly recovered and the snow in the trees is in good condition. Peak gates are scheduled to open as soon as ready (9:30 – 10:00). Do not duck ropes to step out of bounds. According to the snowfall transition, the snowdrifts development is slow and the general avalanche risk is low. However, cornices may collapse at anytime especially around this time of the season, and if anyone get caught in it, the damage can be fatal. Better not remain underneath cornices on purpose and stay away from gully bottoms. The freedom of out of bounds riding is protected by the Niseko Rules, however safety is not guaranteed at all. Stay alarmed; be aware of all risks involved in riding the backcountry. Collisions, slipdrops, crevasses, avalanches and more…
Have a nice day.
