Good morning from Niseko.

Aaah, Sunday morning. And sunny it is, with bright blue skies all around.

It's a stunning morning.

No fresh snowfall to report either here at base or higher up.

It appears that we should expect some spring-like warming up over the coming week especially around Thursday, though there's snow there on the forecast after that for around Friday. So hopefully we're not done yet with fresh snow.

Looks like that Niseko Village lift (Village Express) is now just... closed.

Niseko Avalanche Report

Mountain Base 5am: -4°, no new snow in last 12 hrs, sunny. Moiwa 800m:NE 33deg 2.5m/s, -7.3°. Annupuri 1100m: N 355deg 3.4m/s, -9.7°. Yu no Sawa 1000m: N 14deg 4.4m/s, -9.6°. Niseko Village 900m: N 358deg 2.9m/s, -9.1°. Hirafu 1000m : -9.7°. Hanazono 720m: NW 312deg 1.6m/s, -7.1°. Coastal data: Benkei Cape: S3m/s. Kamui Cape SE 2m/s, 1007hPa, wave 0.7m.

Light winds, the sea and mountains are calm. From observation and data the general avalanche risk is low. All peak gates are expected to be open after preparations are made. The good snow yesterday has crusted over on a lot of slopes, be careful. As the temperature rises in the future the risk of full depth avalanches will always be present. And as water levels in the creeks increase, the snow bridges weaken, falling in will carry an added high risk - drowning. Always be cautious. Have a good day.
