It's on!

Niseko awoke this morning to see the landscape transformed into winter mode. Around 10 cm of snow fell last night with a further 10 cm or so falling through the day. As of 2pm there is no sign of it letting up and the forecast for the next 2 days is for more of the same.

Temperatures will rise over the weekend but if it keeps up at this rate the chances are good that there should be enough of a base to avoid a complete loss to thawing. Everything looks very optimistic that lifts will open as scheduled and we wont have a repeat of last years very late start to the season.
