Hello!

So, there's no fresh cm of snow to report to you again this morning but we should be back to numbers in my next report.

We are still due stormy conditions to roll in and if the forecasts are correct I would expect some lifts to be affected.

It's going to be interesting to see how this next few days shapes up...

For the moment it is a cloudy morning; back to feeling cold and seems calm.

And now, it's time for a quiet and relaxing Sunday. First up, toast! Yum.

Niseko Avalanche Report

Mountain base: -6℃, no snowfall, calm. Moiwa 800m: NNE37°0.3m/s, -9.1℃. Yu no sawa 1000m: NE48°3.8m/s, -11.6℃. Niseko Village 900m: N14°3.2m/s, -10.7℃. Hirafu 1000m: N10°1.3m/s, -11.7℃. Hanazono 720m: W278°1.1m/s, -9.3℃. Benkei cape: SE5m/s, Kamui cape: E3m/s, 1020hPa, 0.7m waves. Annupuri 1000m snow depth 170cm.

Cold morning under a high-pressure. The groomers are firm and the out of bounds area condition is not good. An easterly wind is forecasted to pick up above 1000m elevation before noon. Snowdrifts can develop drastically under high winds (20+m/s) and those newly formed snowdrift slabs are extremely unstable and can easily trigger a surface slab slide. Plan you route according to the weather conditions and remain flexible with it. The mountain conditions changes by the hour. Always be prudent. Many cases of injuries because of falls are being reported. Beware of overspeeding and remain in control. All gates are scheduled to open from the morning. Listen to the ski patrol’s advice before stepping out of the gates.

This information is written based on daily observations, meteo and coast guard data, ski patrollers and CAT operators’ reports. The snow will get better eventually. Have a good & safe day.
