Yesterday's powder and light winds made for two epic days of powder riding in a row. Skiing and boarding does not get any better anywhere in the world. It is hard to discribe to people just how special the last two days have been. If a picture says a 1000 words then check out the images below.

This morning in Hirafu, the sun is out after more snow fell last night. It looks to be another epic day but unbeknown to us in the Village, there is a strong wind blowing at the top of the mountain that is causing the top lifts to be shut and the gates to paradise closed. The Patrol is not even sure if the Annapuri gates will open. They state that the wind has created dangerous wind slaps that could slip. No matter what, it will be a great day on the mountain even though it might not be "all time" like the last two days.

It might be interesting to note that the accumulated snow depth is not indicitive with the amount of powder on the mountain. The more snow that falls, the more it compresses causing the level to actually decrease. If the resort's snow depth has only increased by 20cm you can be sure that there is almost half a meter of powder on the mountain. Niseko is having an incredible season with almost no days above freezing and the snow keeps coming. Bring it on!!!!
