Yesterday was absolutely spectacular. The early morning snow cover was a delight to ride, whether inbounds or out of the resort. The Annupuri bowls were covered in powder that was on average waist deep and often up to chest deep. The snow was so light that the term 'Champagne' doesn't even begin to describe it - it was even lighter than Italian boutique beer. The Miharashi Forrest was probably the best riding in Hirafu, as usual, but the entire mountain had a wonderful cover despite a lot of ethusiastic maniacs tearing lines during the previous night's night skiing. It is currently snowing in Hirafu village and although the offcial numbers state 10cm of fresh snow at the base, the avalanche report is indicating 30cm of fresh on the Hirafu upper mountain. Riding the bowls will be great today, but beware if the sun comes out for very long as it may adversly affect the stability of steeper pitches.
