Another early report today - things should be back to normal timing-wise soon!

Today should be a good one to get out there and see Niseko. It's pretty rare, as people know that have been here in January, that you really have time to take a look around and be able to see the beautiful landscape of Hokkaido. Lovely blue skies this morning around Niseko.

If you have backcountry gear, there is potential everywhere and the next couple days should be sunny so take advantage. There are still some large cornices lurking about which should be the main safety concern.

We are expecting some fresh snow at the end of the week which will hopefully bring us back the powder that has only left for a couple days in the past two months.

Current Official Snow Depths:

Grand Hirafu / Hanazono:
Top - 345cm
Bottom - 180cm

Niseko Village:
Top - 330cm
Bottom - 210cm

Annupuri:
Top - 335cm
Bottom - 200cm

Niseko Avalanche Report:

Niseko base 6am: -6℃, slight overnight snowfall.
Coastal data: NNW3m/s at Benkei cape, calm & 1028hPa at Kamui cape.
Annupuri peak: NW9.4m/s & -12.9℃ (as of 2am this morning).
Snowfall transition: No notable development of snowdrifts can be observed in the past 12 hours. A hoar layer combining Jan 17th, 18th and 19th surface layer is seen to form in the future snowpack. Currently, the overall snowpack is stable. The snow is shallow but in good shape.
Hazard evaluation: General avalanche risk is low.
Gates opening: Peak gates are scheduled to open at 9:30am.
Caution: Do not enter strictly off-limits areas (Haru no taki: coordinate J4, and Yu no sawa: coordinate G3) to seek fresh snow. The freedom and the minimum safety of out of bounds skiing are being kept only by having all resorts users respect the Niseko Rules.
