Yesterday the winds remained constant from the West/North West. The snow kept falling at a consistent rate in the afternoon and on into the night. Since the last report we have received 20cms of Hokkaido`s finest pow pow.
Over the last three days Hirafu has been blessed with 45cms of new snow topping up the already fantastic cover.
Today the snow will continue to fall into the afternoon. The sun will begin to appear as a clear change is on the way.
The temperature will rise slighty tomorrow with the sunshine.
Get ready to get your goggle tan on.

Avalanche Information:

A northerly wind picked up from late night and made some snowdrifts to develop in areas above 800m. Risks of a 45cm surface slab avalanche are to be considered in south facing slopes in western Annupuri areas. A weak layer formed by the Feb 18th snowfall is present underneath the newly formed snowdrifts. Extra caution is required around knolls and cornices of Mikaeri, Osawa, Kozan no sawa, upper Higashi-One, where the slopes has been highly affected by the strong wind (900-1100m elevation). Unstable slabs have formed in those slopes and are likely to slump anytime especially during the morning. Slabs are also forming in areas below 800m as the temperature is rising due to the passing low-pressure system. Refrain from skiing under lift-lines or cliff terrains, it may trigger a slide. Do not stop in gully bottoms; avalanches run through it. Peak gates are scheduled to open around 10am. Use the access gates to step out of bounds and listen to the ski patrol’s instructions before you do. Overall fun condition out there, little heavy but nice and bouncing. Enjoy your day.
