Another night of snow! Looks like we had about 20cm fall last night from what I can see. It's really light density snow and it came down quick. It's a bit cold out now, but nothing unbearable by any means. Since it was soft yesterday, this will fill in the tracks and give the mountain the ole refresh. Should be an awesome day on the resort.

The backcountry conditions are stabling out a bit. It seems as though the bad layer from last week's sun crust is finally mellowing out a bit and consolidating. If the backbowls do end up opening today, they should be pretty good. Yesterday they were still pretty well untracked given the amount of people up there.

We are looking at some unknowns for future weather. It's supposed to snow all day today, but who really knows. Snow all day today and come clear skies is the best prediction (wouldn't that be awesome) in the running so far. Tomorrow is supposed to be partly cloudy with the sun making an intermittent appearance. I hope everyone has a great day and gets fresh all day long.

Niseko Avalanche Report:

Niseko 6am: -7C, 35cm of crystal snow in the past 12 hours.
Coastal data: WNW9m/s at Benkei cape, 0.9m waves and 1019hPa at Kamui cape.
Annupuri peak: NW11.8m/s and -14.8C.
Moiwa peak: 45cm of fresh snow with no notable snowdrifts development, -10C.
Snowfall transition: a weak winter weather pattern has dropped a lot of snow in the west side of the range. The wind remained calm and the snowdrifts development is small. The snowfall is forecasted to calm down as the High-pressure system approaches.
Hazard evaluation: The general avalanche risk is low. However, avalanche risk from Feb 16th layer or deeper is seen to raise in Higashi-One area (coordinateH8), West face (between E6&E7) and Haru no taki strictly off-limits area (J4).
Gates: open at 9:30. Ask the ski patrol’s advise before stepping out the gates.
Caution: The snow is deep and good, but sometimes makes it difficult to come back to the resort when it’s too deep. Snowboarders should carry snowshoes. Traversing gullies terrains all at once is very dangerous. Carry the Niseko Rules flyer map and use it as a reference for checking your position.
