Snow continued on and off through much of yesterday. The winds also picked up casuing some of the top lifts to close. Some further snowfalls overnight have layed down at least another 20cm snow since last report keeping surface conditions nice and fresh. Currently the winds up high are still strong and all top lifts around the mountain are on wind hold. This also means that it's unlikely the peak gate will be opened today and other gates like 2 and 4 can't be accessed unless the lifts start running.
There's a band of storms and heavy precipitation to the west of us currently. They will move inland later today but the heaviest precpitation is most likely to move a little south of us. Still we could get some pretty heavy snowfalls through today at times.

Current Official Snow Depths:

Grand Hirafu:
Top - 350
Bottom - 190

Niseko Village:
Top - 290
Bottom - 185

Top - 240
Bottom - 200

Avalanche Information:

Strong W to SW wind is blowing above 1000m and the top lift operation as well as the opening of gates 2, 3, 4 and 6 is suspended for the moment. Intermittent snowfall has continued overnight and has mostly covered the tracks in the trees below 800m. The snow is a mix of hail & broken particle new snow, deep but slow. Snowboarders might need snowshoes to get back to track if dropping too far to the bottom of the valleys. Considerable avalanche hazard from Jan 18th layer is present in leeward steep slopes such as Osawa cornice slopes and Backbowl sidewalls. Stay away from there until the weather settles down and the snow stabilizes. A slope that was good yesterday is not necessarily good today. Entering Haru no Taki area is strictly prohibited by the Niseko Rules. The Rules have been established to guarantee everyone’s freedom to access out of bounds areas, but to keep minimum safety of all resort users. The whole area outside the gates is kept open only if the Rules are being respected. Refrain from ducking ropes.
Mountain base 6am: -6℃, 20cm of overnight snowfall without snowdrifts development. Coastal data: SW 22m/s at Kamui cape.
