Snow continued through much of yesterday. It remained wet snow at lower elevations and in the evening it actually turned back to some light rain at times in the village. Up higher on the mountain it remained snow throughout the day and added around 10cm to the snowdepth. Overnight there was a few flurries of snow and temps went back below freezing. Up on the mountain it's pretty rock solid on lower slopes with a nasty crust off-piste. Up high the snow has remained in reasonably good condition. It is mostly cloudy this morning with some occasional light snow but it is expected to clear up later today and overnight and we can expect temps to head back down to near -10 by tomorrow morning.
Plenty of snow still expected to hit the region from Thursday onwards. By the weekend we should be back into great powder conditions.

Avalanche Information:

Moiwa base: -1 ℃. A strong westerly (15-17m / s) wind is prevailing above 1100m / s.
There is no new snowfall since last night. The snowpack is settling and is relatively stable.
The snowfall transition in the last few days was typically of Niseko's, but yesterday's warm airflow left a notable difference in the snow layers accumulation above or below 800m.
Yesterday's wet & heavy snow is now forming a crust layer in lower altitudes that will remain deep in the snowpack.
This thick crust layer may become a confusing element in the future predictions.
Due to this irregular transition in the initial snowpack formation, there might be some unusual avalanche happening in unexpected locations this season.
Please carefully watch and be conscious of the future snowfall transitions.
