After a glorious day yesterday, sun shining and Yotei in full view. We weren't expecting the dame but she's there making an appearance. It's a hazy kind of start to the day with not much chance of the sun breaking through so you can leave the sunblock at home! There is no new snowfall to report from last night or expected today. It's going to remain slightly cloudy over in Niseko Village, with clear breaks possible in Hirafu and it will stay cold with temperatures hitting minus 11.

It is a great day to enjoy piste runs and taking it easy although there are some powder hideouts to be found. Make the most of today as we expect a snowstorm to hit us at the end of this week and into the weekend. Expect wind and a huge dumping of snow, so be prepared for those conditions. Looks like a white out for Christmas, no complaining there!

Gates 4, 5, and 6 are open today so get to know your backyard while the weather lets you! But be careful and understand the terrain and hazzards out there.

Safe riding...

The Niseko "Avalanche report" reads:

Niseko base: -10℃, no snowfall. Coastal data: SSE4m/s wind at Benkei cape and 0.6m waves. No new snowfall has fallen in the Niseko range, the snowpack is stable and the avalanche risk is low. Gates 4, 5 & 6 are scheduled to open around 9:30am. Seek for the ski patrol’s advice before stepping out the gates. Please refrain from crossing closed gates and ropes. One bad example could lead many others to do the same and raise the chances of accidents to happen. A developing Low is approaching, beware of sudden weather changes. The peak anemometer will be set today. Avalanche control operations will be performed in Mizuno no Sawa – Niseko Village from today. Do not duck ropes to enter the special control area.
