Yesterday remained fine and mostly clear and although a little windy up high there was great spring skiing all over the mountain. The Equinox was last night so from hereon in the days will be getting longer than the nights!

This morning there is increasing high cloud moving in from the west and the winds will strengthen. Warm air moving up the eastern side of the approaching low will bring mild temps to the region and rain later. The rain is expected to turn to snow in the early hours of tomorrow morning and snowfalls are set to continue throughout much of the coming week. Hopefully we'll be able to see out the month with some late season turns in powder. It's unlikely to be getting waist deep or anything but any powder at this time of year will be most welcome.

There's still an excellent cover across the resorts with no bare patches appearing yet. The snowpack off piste is reasonably stable but there is increasing risk of full thickness slab avalanches in areas like the back bowls of Annupuri. If riding in these areas stay out of the bottom of the gullies to avoid being squished to a pulp if one of these full thickness slabs lets go. They are very powerful, full of large amounts of ice, rocks and trees. You get hit by one of these and a happy outcome is very unlikely.

Current Official Snow Depths:

Grand Hirafu:
Top - 330cm
Bottom - 130cm

Niseko Village:
Top - 360cm
Bottom - 135cm

Annupuri:
Top - 390cm
Bottom - 175cm
