Yesterday remained mostly cloudy over the resort even though Mt Yotei was free of cloud throughout the day. With a fairly strong wind it actually felt quite cool up there regardless of the mild temperatures.
Today is partly cloudy with a high overcast moving in with the approaching low pressure system and strong winds up high have some lifts in the Grand Hirafu area on wind hold. The temperature is already well above freezing and it feels more like April than February! Later today we'll definitely get some rain which will turn to snow overnight. Fingers crossed the follow up snowfalls over the coming days return the resort to more normal conditions for this time of year.

Current Official Snow Depths:

Grand Hirafu:
Top - 365
Bottom - 180

Niseko Village:
Top - 380
Bottom - 180

Top - 350
Bottom - 220

Avalanche Information:

Warm air is flowing in due to passing low-pressure system. The snow is melting in areas below 800m and loose snow & wet slab avalanches are likely to occur in steep slopes (>35°). The temperature in areas under 500m elevation is forecasted to rise up to 5℃ or higher today. Cornices are likely to collapse and possibilities of a slab avalanche from Feb 18th layer of deeper layers is also present due to this high temperature. If a deep layer slide happens, the consequences would be huge. The mountain might be tracked out, but better remain always prudent. Drastic temperature changes can affect the bond within the snow-pack. Stay away from gully bottoms to prevent accidents. Gate 2 & 3 will be closed today. Do not duck ropes to step out. Follow the ski patrol’s instructions. The snow conditions will turn better soon.
