Finally a half decent amount of fresh snow has fallen across the resort. We've had at least 20cm since last report and with the temperatures rapidly plummeting yesterday what's fallen is good quality powder. Not really quite enough for bottomless turns everywhere but there was a lot of wind through the night and significant drifting so there'll be deeper snow to be found in the less slopes. Obviously fresh snow falling on top of an icy base means quite unstable conditions and the peak gates will remain closed today. With temps up at the peak around -17 with really strong winds it really wouldn't be all that pleasant up there anyway!

Grand Hirafu:
Top - 395
Bottom - 190

Niseko Village:

Bottom - 170

Top - 350

Avalanche Information:

Peak gates 2 & 3 will be kept closed today, and other gates opening are yet decided. Please respect the ski patrol’s instructions. Annupuri peak 6am: -17.3℃, average wind NW21m/s. Annupuri 800m: -13.7℃, WNW10.6m/s. 15cm of overnight snowfall. A strong W to NW wind is persisting and has been blowing around 20m/s for over 10hours above 1100m elevation. The temperature has remained low and the snowfall increased. Wind exposed slopes in high altitude have been scuffed, resulting in a rugged hard-pack surface. Uneven thickness wind-slabs are covering crusty surface (from Feb 24th warm & wet weather), these slabs are highly likely to slide in leeward avalanche terrain. 20-30cm snowdrifts are also present on top of icy surface in areas below 1000m and avalanche risk is equally high in leeward steep slopes. The weather might turn better during the day, however the risks will remain high for a while before the snow starts to settle.
