No new snow, but another beautiful, clear day on its way in Niseko. The sky is a little gray this morning, but that will likely burn off like yesterday and give way to crystal blue skies. Yesterday got pretty warm (4-5C) and then refroze over night, but with today's temperatures and sun, the slopes should soften up pretty quickly today.

The forecast is for it to get a little cloudy today and tomorrow potentially rain with warm temperatures, but things should cool down a bit over the weekend. There's snow in the outlook for the weekend, but it's far from definite.

As always, keep in mind that with the sun and warm weather, steeper backcountry bowls can be more likely to slide than usual. Always keep aware, even in perfect visibility.

Niseko Avalanche Report:

Niseko base 6am: -3C, no snowfall and sunny morning. Coastal data: WSW6m/s at Benkei cape, 1.5m waves and 1015hPa at Kamui cape. Annupuri peak 1308m: W11.4m/s, -5.9C. Annupuri 1000m: 485cm snowdepth.
Snowfall transition: There are no notable snowfall in the last 24 hours. The light snowfall of the 28th morning has re-crystallized to a fast running snow. The temperature is forecasted to rise today.
Hazard evaluation: The general avalanche risk is low. A strong westerly wind is blowing in high altitude (1100m), making wind-blown snowdrifts develop. Climax (ground) avalanche due to slides of older layer (Mar 16th or 21st ) should be considered in coordinate E6 Backbowl sidewalls, east of G7 Higashione. Riding gullies, valley bottoms and natural halfpipes is not recommended. The cornices are heavy and could collapse at anytime. Beware of slipdrops and shallow slides of winddrifted snow.
Gates: Peak gates are scheduled to open at 9:30am after lift operation. Gate 9 Oyajigawa will be closed due to snow melting and swelling of the river. Do not duck ropes to enter the area. The water is cold and potentially dangerous. Have a nice day.
