Good morning from Shiga Kogen. We are at the end of the week and Shibutoge will remain open.

Here's the pretty crazy news.... we got some new snow! Yes, it has been cold enough since last night for snow to be falling here! Earlier on the temperature was below zero. Not bad for getting on the middle of May. Not the best of conditions to be out there though - poor visibility and a moderate wind, but if you to touch that fresh snow again....

Yokoteyama are reporting up to 10cm of new snow and also that the Shiga Kogen - Kusatsu section of Route 292 is closed this morning due to the snowfall. The sightseeing "Skylater" facility isn't open yet either... so we're not quite into sightseeing season yet.

The forecast for the weekend currently says that conditions should clear up a bit tomorrow though there may be a bit left over from today in the morning. Sunday looks to be the better bet for clearer conditions generally.
