Well, not the best of weather conditions for the second part of Golden Week, that's for sure - Saturday aside. But it's done now and we are really into the last stretch of the season... just a few lifts remain open at Kumanoyu, Yokoteyama and Shibutoge in the southern area of Shiga Kogen - four to be exact this morning.

At Kumanoyu, the No2 pair lift is operating until 13th May. At Yokoteyama, the No2 Sky triple lift and the No3 Sky pair lifts are open with the Shibutoge pair lift also operating. Yokoteyama will remain open as long as they can which will probably be towards the end of May.

Please note that the normal season Shiga Kogen lift tickets cannot be used now (as of today) - you will need to get a ticket for the resort.

It is also worth remembering that Kumanoyu is a skiers-only resort. At Yokoteyama, of what is open just the No2 course is ok for boarders, but it's beginners only. Shibutoge might be the best area to head for with your boards.

The snow is getting really patchy now at the above places - it has really melted away quickly over the last week or so. I'd leave any new equipment at home at this stage of the season.

It's a fine morning here and this week there isn't any rain on the forecast as it stands at the moment.
