Good morning. There is no new snow to report on this cold morning in Zao. Earlier on this morning I could see the top of the mountain and there was good visibility but as the morning has become the afternoon clouds have moved in over the mountain and we are back to the top being shrouded in cloud - and poorer visibility on the slopes. For now it is just cloudy but there's a chance of light snow falling. Come tomorrow night and into Wednesday that will probably be more moderate to heavy snowfall, and after that it does not look like the snow clouds are ready just yet to give us a break. Temperatures will remain cold. This is all good news of course for the famous Juhyo Ice Monsters at Zao that are coming on nicely this season. Cold temperatures overnight and regular snowfalls is all contributing to what should be a fine season for the Ice Monsters, bless 'em!

Of course, for lots of people coming to Zao, seeing the Ice Monsters is a big part of their experience. We don't get a huge amount of clear, blue sky days here but when they do come Zao does look spectacular. Wouldn't it be great if we could have 30cm of fresh snow each night overnight (after the Light Up closes of course), and then clear blue skies during the day? If you do come to Zao, good luck with the weather! :)

Back to a normal weekday from tomorrow.
