Morning from Zao.

Lots of cloud this morning but there is some sunshine breaking through too and I expect more sun during the day today. It is a mild morning as it has been and I think we'd all like a dramatic return to winter-like weather but we might have to wait a bit more for that. There seems to be a chance of snowfall around Thursday.

In the meantime, as with other regions, rather spring like feel to things right at the moment.

Introducing the SnowJapan Community

We would like to welcome everyone to a new section of our website, the SnowJapan Community:

https://www.snowjapan.com/community

What is SnowJapan Community?

- Any member can post a question (about Japan winter sports)
- Any member can answer questions that other people have posted
- Login/register easily using an existing social media account (Facebook, Google, etc)
- ...or using an existing ‘SnowJapanForums’ account
- There’s a new SnowJapan blog (which will be written by us)

The new Q&A area is a place where people can ask their questions about any aspect of winter sports in Japan. Hopefully, other people who have good answers will respond. Obviously, it will need knowledgeable people to be on hand to provide answers but if it works well it should become a good new source of useful information. Let’s see how it goes!

To read more about the SnowJapan Community please be sure to read the Welcome message.

Some of you will probably remember the ‘SnowJapanForums’. They were fun and useful for a lot of people and we had mixed feelings when we decided to close them in November 2014. It was a complicated situation, but we found ourselves needing to spend way too much of our time dealing with various issues (spam, trolls, people wanting to promote their business, behind the scenes issues, etc). We really wanted to be able to concentrate our energies on our main website.

We need to avoid getting back into a similar kind of situation. So, it is important to note that this new Q&A area is not an open-for-all discussion ‘Forum’ and that all submitted questions and answers will be moderated.

We are hoping to soon allow members to log in to our main SnowJapan site to post ‘Resort Reviews’ and upload ‘Resort Photos’ using the same account details. We’re currently working on that and will post news when that is ready.

There are a few other ideas that we are considering for this brand-new space, so you can expect some changes and adjustments as we move forward.

Please feel free to contribute to the Q&A. We just ask that if you do, please read the guidelines before posting a question or an answer.

Thank you!
