Towards the end of yesterday it started snowing again and was getting blustery at the top of the Chuo No.2 (12). The snow continued overnight (even down to the valley which is a good sign) so a fresh layer today.

The Paradise area had good levels of powder yesterday and I expect the same again today but, in most areas, as well. The Sunrise slope is open for those who enjoy wide-sweeping carving.

The Omori area was a bit hard and icy underfoot yesterday due to the warmth of the past few days albeit it has soft snow on top. Overnight grooming plus the new snow should have done away with that.

It was good to see the Udon restaurant open finally at the top of the Chuo no.2 (12). All should be open today for the weekend.

Today's tip: in the excitement of the new snow, and you find yourself at either end of the mountain with time running out before closures and you need to get back to the other side, get yourself either to the bottom of the Zao Ropeway (Yokokura course) or Chuo Ropeway (via Sunrise) and walk to either Ropeway. It only takes 5 minutes and is better than risking being stranded. Plus you'll have a nice long run back to end the day (but it will be getting dark so be warned).

First day of night skiing and the Light up operations today.
