It is -4c with no wind evident. Light snow has just started to fall, but this doesn't look like it will last too long. It is high overcast and visibility is good. The slopes are still hard and icy from the warm weather and rain. Read more ...

Morning from Zao.
Snow expected to be falling this morning though I wouldn't be expecting new cm. Perhaps a dusting.
From tomorrow it's sun, sun and sun by the looks of the forecasts. And warmth too - getting a little warmer each day and into double digits on Thursday. So we can be expecting some nice spring conditions. We can't keep it cold, so might as well just accept it and enjoy it!
Lifts and course info:
- All lifts moving as planned - All areas open as planned - Note: the Karamatsu pair lift has now closed for the season
Wet looking roads this morning, but it sounds like there has been some fresh snow higher up and it is still snowing lightly in places. Kagura are reporting 5cm of this morning; Ishiuchi Maruyama are also reporting a thin layer of snow up top too. So head high for a bit of fresh.
Sunshine is expected along with temperatures of around 4C or 5C in town later on. Tuesday through Thursday, more sunshine and warmer conditions are coming... high temperatures of around mid teens are going to be the norm.
It's not looking like there's any chance of snow, I'm afraid.
Most resorts around town are planning on being open until the end of March or early April. If these (generally) warmer conditions and snow melt continue at the pace of the last week, some people are beginning to wonder if they'll be able to remain open as planned. We of course hope so and are still ever hopefully for some more cool in March.
We'll add the planned closing dates to the listings below in the coming days.

Ski resorts in Yuzawa:
Checked and updated every morning. Note that some ski resorts may not have updated their own info at the time this report is published.
Lots of cloud around still on this Monday morning but blue sky about and the cloud is probably going to retreat.
Forecasts show a lot of sunshine over the next 3-4 days. Today we'll see highs of about 3-4C in village, with things getting warmer from tomorrow - into low double digits. It's going to be lovely weather for some fun spring skiing.
Bit of a bonus - the resort is reporting 2cm of fresh snowfall up on the top Yamabiko and Uenotaira areas this morning.
The West and East Kandahar courses are open today. The East Kandahar course will be open tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday. And then on Friday, just the West Kandahar course will be available.
Monday 12th March 2018
Fresh snowfall since yesterday (as reported by the resort):
A small low-pressure passed and brought cold air inflow with snowfall from the north. The mountain is blanketed with a thin layer of new snow. Visibility is pretty bad in some spots up above 1000m as cold/warm air mass is relocating. The overall avalanche risk is low, all gates are expected to open. Please listen to the patrol’s advice and be well prepared before stepping out of bounds. The snow underneath the new snow can be a bit tricky to ski, please be careful.
Many cracks are forming in south facing steep/cliff slopes in all elevation. Glide avalanche hazard is raising especially in Hirafu O-hiroma, Haru no Taki, Mikaeri bowl naka-one area. Glide avalanches due to temperature variation could also occur suddenly, even without any prominent cracks, in far-Higashi One, Backbowl and upper Osawa. Better not stay put under steep slopes and at valley bottoms.
The snow in the trees is pretty good. Thin surface slab slides may occur in open steep faces. Please stay vigilant anytime. Have a nice day.

Good morning from Hakuba.
After a day of changeable weather conditions yesterday, including some snow falling, today should be more settled.
This morning the sun is out and it's a beautiful morning. It's quite cold at the start of the day and it should get fairly mild during the day - and warmer tomorrow. In fact through until Thursday there should be lots of sunshine and warmth.
Ski resort information on Monday 12th March 2018 (at time of writing):
Earlier light snowfall has eased off and there's increasing blue sky above the mountain now.
More sun forecast tomorrow but perhaps some warmer temps and the chance of rain around mid week. Fingers crossed we might avoid that or at least minimise.
Back to weekday operations again now for the week.
Official snow depth:
Planned lift operations (subject to change):
- APPI Gondola - Central quad - Central number 2 lift - Central number 3 lift A - Central number 5 lift - Central number 6 lift - Sailer quad - Nishimori pair
Note: The Sailer Gondola, Central Number 4 lift and Vista quad are usually rested on normal weekdays
We will endeavour to keep the reports updated regularly until the end of the season at Appi. Read more ...

Some fresh snow this morning.
There is still some cloud hanging around but the skies are forecast to clear up during the day and the sun should make an appearance. And it's due to stay with us and be the major feature of the weather until Thursday. While today is going to keep fairly mild, from tomorrow the temps are going to start rising too. So it's probably going to feel like full on spring weather this week.
Less than 3 weeks left in the season here at Madarao - let's make the most of it.

After some snow here and there yesterday, with tops of 0C and light winds that increased into he evening for a gusty night, we finally have some fresh snow to report.
We’ve seen 3cm into this morning, which isn’t much but I definitely prefer reporting snow, than rain. Today we’re in for some more light snow that should settle to snow showers this afternoon, with winds staying moderate for the time being. Tonight they should calm down a little for a mostly clear night. Tops of -2C today.
This week we should see some more Spring temperatures making an appearance. Tuesday through Friday we’re seeing tops of about 8-12C. Though, after some brief rain Thursday night, it’s looking like about 15cm of fresh stuff over Friday…
Tuesday: mostly sunny with moderate winds & tops of 9C Wednesday: mostly sunny with some light afternoon rain, moderate winds & tops of 9C Thursday: mostly sunny with light evening rain, light winds & tops of 12C
Beautiful weather on this Monday morning. And it's looking like there's going to be lots of sun over the next run of days along with warming up temperatures too - particularly around Thursday. Hopefully not too much.
There is a bit of a northerly wind this morning and also a dusting of snow to report.
And that is about it. Going to be a fine few days for some spring skiing.
Official snow depths numbers reported by different areas of Shiga Kogen:
Please note that these numbers are the official numbers that ski resorts publish and we check and update them each morning.
2cm of new snow has fallen last night but it has already stopped this morning. There is also some strong wind blowing from the west this morning and that means it will probably get warmer after this. Because of this wind direction and strength, the nearby Nekoma ski hill will be closed for the whole day today.
Grandeco will open all lifts but if the wind gets too strong, some lifts may slow down or close - pay attention to the announcements.
Please note that the snowfall numbers posted in this report will be observed from close to the base Tenjindaira Ropeway station - which is often much more than in the central town area of Minakami. Read more ...

Good morning from Naeba. It's a bright start today, with clear blue skies and the sun beaming down. The air temperature is currently reading -3°C, however this is expected to push up to at least 2°C during the day today. There is currently a light wind in the valley, which is moderate up the mountain, but this is expected to ease off as the day goes on. There was a dusting of fresh snow last night, but there is no accumulation to report.
Looking forwards, we can expect warm, clear and windless days for the coming week, with the calm weather settling in until at least Friday. Air temperatures will push up as high as 15°C at the base on Thursday. On Friday, we can expect a band of moist, unsettled air to move through, bringing a little rain, but this should clear by Saturday. Read more ...

A few blue patches; bright
Surprise again, as we got just under an inch of snow (more little graupel, or soft hail pellets). It’s always nice to have everything a little more pristine and white, even if fresh snow is kind of a pain if you’re going off into the woods (powder or settled snow, I say).
The snow will have a good chance to settle in the coming days, though, as the freezing level once again rises above the peak of Mt. Myoko and we get sun, sun, sun. Actually looking forward to a little genuine corn snow off in the hills - as long as spring conditions are here, we might as well enjoy them!
