It's still snowing. Not huge numbers - 8cm by last night and an additional 7cm this morning, and so I am adding 15cm to the report this morning.
For the record, Kagura are reporting 5cm and Maiko Snow Resort are reporting 5-10cm.
Light snow seems to be what all the forecasts are telling us to expect for the day today, easing off by tonight; and then some more light snow early tomorrow and maybe we will see some sunshine on Friday.
All ski areas in the area should be open as normal this morning.

Aizu Bandai Now!
Wednesday 13th February 2019, 8:26am
Good morning from the Urabandai area.
I have another 9cm of snow to report at Grandeco base, and it is still falling and quite heavily just at the moment. Due to the snowfall, visibility is quite poor but the snow on the slopes is really soft and nice and fluffy.
Nekoma is closed today so if you are planning to come to the Urabandai area, Grandeco will be good to enjoy the powder snow today. The Number 4 lift at Grandeco is not open today, better take No.3 lift and turn to the left to the Melissa course.
It will be cloudy in the afternoon. Enjoy the fresh snow!
Would be good if Nekoma and Urabandai didn't have these weekday days closings - do be sure to keep that in mind if you plan to be in the area. (Noted below in each report).
The photos for today are from all from Grandeco.
Nekoma - lift 4/5, course 11/11 open *Closed on Wednesday and Thursday 1/16-2/28 Grandeco - lift 4/5 include one gondola, course 12/13 open Urabandai - lift 0/3, course 0/3 open *Closed on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Minowa - lift 3/3, course 10/11 open Numajiri - lift 4/4, course 11/11 open Alts Bandai - lift 8/8 include one gondola, course 23/25 open Inawashiro - lift 8/8, course 18/18 open Inawashiro resort - lift 4/4 include one gondola, course 7/9 open Listel - lift 2/2, course 5/7 open Family Bandai Bandai - lift 0/2, course 0/7 open *Only open on Saturday, Sunday and national holidays. Good morning Madarao fans.
As much as I wished I was in Madarao, I unfortunately have to be in Tokyo today. So this is a remote report coming to you with the help of my friend up there. I trust they are being 100% honest with me!
OK so it looks like the Super Quad lift still has a problem and will be closed for the day today too. The good lift people at Madarao are going to be giving it some tender loving care and a cup of cocoa tonight before bedtime, in the hope of getting it back operating from tomorrow.
In snow news, I'm being told 18cm of fresh since yesterday. (The resort is reporting 10cm since last night).
Visibility remains limited-poor as snow continues to fall. It is remaining cold too so conditions should be great.
There might be some sunshine and clearer skies on Friday.
Planned operations for Wednesday 13th February 2019
Official snow depth at Madarao:
All lifts apart from Number 5 and Super Quad plan to be open All 31 courses should be open including tree run courses

Good morning from Zao.
Another 10+cm of fresh on the ground and another extremely cold morning with snow likely during the day.
The cold conditions are set to continue for a while yet; perhaps some milder conditions early next week.
PS: I am still battling a few circumstances that might make my reports a bit irregular timing-wise - and I apologise for that.

This morning I bring you news of 14cm of fresh snowfall.
And once again, it's very cold and the snow quality is just excellent. :)
And once again, it looks like such consistent conditions are going to continue through until around Sunday.
Is that some sunshine I see on the forecast for Monday?! We ain't seeing much of that of late, just a few glimpses now and again. Bit of blue sky around lunchtime yesterday was nice. As long as the snow doesn't stay away for too long, I think many of us would be excited to have a day of clearer skies. (Just to be very clear, that is of course not in any way a 'complaint' - I'm just imagining perfect scenarios!)
Rather limited visibility at the start of the day today but all lifts appear to be opening as planned.
Niseko Avalanche Report:
Mountain base 6am: -10℃, 15cm snowfall in 24h. Moiwa 800m: -13.1℃, NW4.3m/s, cornice and snowdrifts developments. Mikaeri junction: -13℃, developing snowdrifts. Annupuri1120m snow depth 250cm. Mizuno no Sawa: 6cm snowfall in 12h, 8cm in 24h. Hirafu peak: -16℃, wind peaking at 15m/s late night, snowdrifts developed. Suttsu weather station: -6.1℃, NW14.5m/s at midnight. Kutchan: -8.6℃, 194cm snow depth. Benkei cape light house: NW9m/s, Kamui cape: NNW8m/s, 1022hPa, 1.4m waves.
The weather is changing quickly and a 10-15m/s storm is making cornices and snowdrifts develop slowly above 800m elevation. According to pressure tests, the overall avalanche risk seems relatively low, however 40cm thick surface slab avalanches caused by snowdrifts’ uneven bonding are still likely to occur in 1000m leeward steep slopes. All gates are scheduled to open, however make sure to be well prepared for the backcountry and seek for advice from the patrols before stepping out of the gates.
Avy beacons and airbags are not decorations. It makes no sense to carry them if you’re not familiar with how to use them. Cornices are highly likely to fall around this time of the season. Cornice drops may be fun, but is not worth risking your life. Building kickers wherever without being aware of the consequences is nonsense. If you do build one, make sure to flatten it before you leave. Somebody could get hurt.
The snow condition is wonderful again today. Have a good one.

It is a wow of a morning in Furano with nice clear sky above. There has been a 3cm dusting of new snow, just enough to keep the slopes nice and fresh. It is calm at the moment with no wind around the base area. The sun is out and I think it will stay with us to afternoon when some light snow is expected. Lots of people out early in the ski village grabbing their morning coffee or heading out on a day trip to one of the other great central Hokkaido ski areas nearby.

Good morning everyone.
It was a cold day yesterday and some fine conditions to be enjoyed, with some snow falling during the day though I noticed 47 (for example) reporting 'not much' in terms of new cm. Visibility remained limited in most places.
Light snow this morning with just a little on the ground and apparently 5-10cm or so on the ski resorts with snow falling at the moment too.
Varying visibility this morning - fairly decent lower down but limited in higher areas with the mountains shrouded in cloud.
Just to add to what I wrote yesterday after reading a few comments:
I am guessing that almost all of you reading this report do not want me to be making up numbers just to make things sound perfect like some kind of marketing brochure.
Don't worry, I'm never going to be doing that. I'll report what I see (backed up by a few reference points) and what the ski resorts are reporting.
If you want to read a marketing brochure, why not just go read one of them...

Nozawa Onsen Now!
Wednesday 13th February 2019, 9:12am
Good morning from Nozawa.
The snow clouds remain over us. Overnight the resort is reporting 5-10cm and adding to the snow that they reported during the day yesterday that makes generally around 20cm of fresh. I have measured 18cm myself since my report yesterday.
Light snow is forecast for today and tomorrow and it seems we have a chance of clearer skies on Friday.
It is keeping cold and let us hope that continues. Cold is good - we can always add a layer to cope with that and it's great for the snow conditions.
Anyway, time to put on my skis! Have a good one.

Shiga Kogen Now!
Wednesday 13th February 2019, 9:16am
Hello from Shiga Kogen.
6cm of snow to add this morning but it's just cloudy at the moment - though it may well be snowing in some places (looks like that). Lots of cloud and the forecast does have us down for the chance of light snow through the day. And tomorrow too. Maybe sun on Friday.
Cold temperatures continue and snow conditions should be very nice.
That's about it for now. Until tomorrow!
