Cloudy, light snow
Sunday night saw huge amounts of precipitation, falling as rain in Hirafu and Kutchan with some pretty spectacular thunderstorms. This morning saw the ski runs covered with a thin blanket of snow almost down to the bottom lift and starting at 8.30am we saw our first flakes at village level with the snow shower lasting until around 10am.
Both Tuesday night and Thursday afternoon look like good candidates for more sustained snow falls with the conditions remaining well below freezing with the eventual warming mentioned in my last report set to occur over the weekend. Read more ...

Good news this evening... snow!
Since the last report in early October there has been very liitle snow on the mountains in the region and it has really been long and mild autumn, so todays snow is really the first snow event of the month.
The ski resort slopes are no doubt getting a dusting of snow at the moment and it is actually falling in the town right now as well - though only accummulating a little on the tops of cars at the moment.
It does feel cold - nothing major, but it is starting to feel like winter is just round the corner and indeed tomorrow the forecast is for snow to continue down to town and perhaps we will have some cm to report as well.
