Nozawa Onsen Now!

Weather conditions: Cloud
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
A cloudy morning without new snow. As the Gondola lifts didn't operate most of the time in the last few days, there is a good chance that some powder is left in the upper area. Temperatures there are aslo quite cold, so the snow quality should be perfect.

"Nighta" today from 5 to 8pm at the Nagasaka "Gerende".   Read more ...

The snow stopped last night, so no new snow to report overnight. Still cloudy this morning and temperatures are still staying low, and it looks like it may well stay like that for the rest of the day. Pretty much excellent snow conditions anywhere you choose today.

Have a good weekend!   Read more ...

Weather conditions: Cloud and sun

A light dusting of snow last night and the peak chair open at last. An overcast morning has given way to sunshine, increasing visibilty and creating great views of Yotei. The gondola is to be avoided due to the weekend lift lines. Runs off the peak are the pick of the day.   Read more ...

Hakuba Now!

Saturday 17th January 2004, 11:52am
Weather conditions: Overcast, but otherwise clear. A little snow expected.
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
After what appeared to be a clear day yesterday, we had a sunny start this morning. The sky has since whitened with high cloud and we may see a little snow later on. The tops of the mountains are visible from down below.

As ever, the official reports focus on how wonderful the groomers are after the cats have done their thing on this week's powder feast. Goryu's report has been showing a closeup shot of some corduroy (!) Kurobishi got a rare grooming (they must use winches) on Thursday night, but looks to be mogulled already. The temps have remained low this week, so there should be lots of high-quality pow in shaded offpiste areas. It might be a little crunchy on top elsewhere.

The locals' annual Kigansai event with the African drumming takes place tonight at a gateball court (?!) opposite Green Sports Hakuba. It should be a good party.
