Cloud, blue sky
Yesterday light snow continued for most of the morning with some sunshine in the afternoon and then a return to snow later on, so some mixed conditions.
There has just been a little snow down at town with perhaps more higher up. It was pretty busy at the popular resorts yesterday so any additional fresh was being tracked pretty quickly.
This morning starts off with some cloud and blue sky over Yuzawa and we are forecast some fine weather with a high of around 6C in town later in the afternoon.
It's still looking like we are going to be having a relatively mild week and there's currently some rain on the forecast for Wednesday. Let's hope that Nature is kind to us and our snow!
Note: the top KG-1 gate at Kagura will be closed today. Unfortunately it looks like they are having to search for missing people up there.

Geto Kogen Now!
Monday 18th February 2019, 7:32am
Another Monday morning here in Geto and the weekend people are back at work leaving us with a quieter resort once again.
Just 3cm of fresh snowfall to report this morning and it is just cloudy for the moment. We might get to see some breaks in the clouds during the day today. And it's pretty much more of the same due tomorrow as well.
So I'll see you then!
Official snow depths:
* Top: 430cm * Base: 300cm
Planned operating lifts - subject to change due to weather:
* Number 1 Gondola * Number 1 pair lift * Number 2 pair lift * Quad
- The Number 2 Gondola is usually rested on normal weekdays
Courses & Tree Runs - subject to change due to weather:
* All of the main official courses are available * All tree runs open
Yesterday afternoon the resort was reporting 7-9cm on the upper slopes of the mountain and there's no additional to add to that this morning.
Cloud around early on but it's expected to be clear(er) and sunny today. It's still early (Nasuki hasn't appeared at his daytime spot yet) and quite cloudy, so maybe it will get much clearer as the morning progresses.
So yes, generally milder conditions are forecast for this week. Let's see how it turns out.

Good morning from Niseko.
It's an unusually early report from me. I need to get out on the road soon this morning, so I have no choice. I don't normally like earlier reports - not because of wanting to sleep and pre-report toast, but because weather conditions often do change early morning in the run up to opening and I like to bring you any opening lift news. (Honest!)
Anyways, no fresh snowfall to report again this morning.
There is a lot of cloud around the mountain but some breaks in it away in the other direction so perhaps we might get some clearer conditions today. Forecasts say we might.
It feels windy but hopefully lifts will be open as normal.
Niseko Avalanche Report:
Mountain base 6am: -3℃, no snowfall. Moiwa800m: -7.2℃, WSW8.41m/s, cornice and snowdrifts developments due to wind-blown snow. Mikaeri junction: no snowfall, new snowdrift development. Annupuri1120m: 250cm snow depth, -10.2℃ WNW 8.6m/s at 1000m. Hirafu peak: -11℃, NW20m/s, 1000m -9.8℃, N9.7m/s. Niseko Village Mizuno no Sawa: -8.46℃, NW8.9m/s. Kutchan Weather station: -1.7℃, ENE1.0m/s, 175cm snow depth. Benkei cape: NNW12m/s, Kamui cape: NW12m/s, 1015hPa, 2.6m waves.
The wind remains strong but no snowfall. Cornices and snowdrifts have grown due to wind-blown snow and are very unstable. Gates opening is undetermined. Please respect the ski patrol’s decisions. The avalanche risk is considerable in the morning. 40cm thick slides from Feb 17th layer are likely to occur in O-sawa and Backbowl’s 900m slopes. The chairs might start running as the wind calms down, however it is strongly recommended not to approach leeward cornice slopes for a while. Avoid riding the bottom of the valleys and never duck ropes to enter the out of bounds areas. Strictly off-limits areas are closed for a good reason. The snow condition is the same in the surrounding mountains; beware of open steep slopes and gullies.
The groomers are firm but in excellent condition.

Lovely start to the new week with blue skies over Madarao and the sun shining down on the slopes. It's a cold morning but as mentioned before we are expecting some warmer conditions this week. There should be quite a bit of sun and alas there might be some rain (tomorrow?) along with the forecast warmer temperatures (maybe up to around 6-8C in the daytime mid-week).
Enough of worrying about that. This morning should be a lot of fun!

Good morning from Hakuba.
Yesterday the blue skies mostly won out with just a bank of cloud remaining around the mountains later on. Beautiful.
And this morning it is one of those absolutely stunning mornings with blue skies and sunshine from early on. Breath-taking. There's no fresh snow to report from around the valley, but show me a place that can beat these views!
Very cold overnight and early on but it'll get into low positive numbers during the day today down here in the village. Let's take this week one day at a time.
It's going to be a great morning...

The snowstorm that come in yesterday has passed and this morning there is a buzz around the village as people do some serious snow removal from their driveways. There is 19cm of new snow since the last report. Once again it is a little heavier than the usual light Furano powder, but still of a great quality. Visibility is great with clear skies above, and there is no wind at present. The mountain is sparkling in the morning sun and all that fresh snow has been nicely groomed from top to bottom. Off piste areas will offer great conditions.

Shiga Kogen Now!
Monday 18th February 2019, 8:20am
There's some early morning cloud but I think today is going to clear up and be fine and sunny - there are signs of that already.
I am looking at the forecast and (I may be wrong but) I feel that the temp forecasts for around mid week have gone down a little, which is a good thing so let's hope so.
Weekend crowds are gone and it is quieter.. should be a good morning.

A beautiful, calm day today.
The snow is great, the views are outstanding; a nice day to have before things get warm and maybe rainy and almost certainly sloppy over the coming days.
The freezing level is going way up the mountain, but not like we had a few weeks ago when rain fell all the way to the top of Mt. Myoko. And you have to rememebr; it might seem like the end of the season, but we've got lots of time left, lots of snow on the hill, and we do get good powder into March!
No fresh snow to report and it is likely going to be a lovely clear and sunny day.
-1C early on but it's going to get milder today and more so in the coming few days. We just hope not too much.
More cloud is expected for tomorrow.
Official snow depth:
All lifts plan to be operating apart from the following (some lifts rested on weekdays):

Yesterday saw Tenjin fully reset but the snow stopped early yesterday evening and on piste it's just partially reset today.
Soft snow, tracks a little over 10cm deep, up to 30cm in gullies. Conditions aren't as superb as they have been lately but quite good and the weather is beautiful.
Still rain forecast for tomorrow night, snow for Wednesday and Thursday. Read more ...
