Hakuba Now!

Weather conditions: Snowing and overcast
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
It's looks like a White Out Christmas in Hakuba this year! We received 30 cm in the valley overnight and more up top that was pushed around by wind until the wind died down early this morning. The wind is presently calm with light gusts. The temperatures are cool and perfect for great powder snow. The rate of precipitation is not slowing and looks like it will carry in to tomorrow giving Hakuba one of the snowiest Christmas in recent history.

Weather conditions: Scattered cloud
New snowfall: --

More fine weather! A few days of sunny weather in a row is quite unusual here but knowing it can't last much longer I'm enjoying it whilst it lasts. There was a dusting of snow late yesterday and although snow is forecast for today it has yet to materialise. I can see on the weather radar that snow should move over the region a bit later today. Another great day to get those photos that'll make everyone at home extremely jealous.   Read more ...

Yuzawa Now!

Friday 23rd December 2005, 9:18am
Weather conditions: Snow
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
Yes, it is still snowing. And it should snow all day today and into tomorrow as well. We think that's good news (!?) but even better news is that the winds have died down quite a bit since yesterday. It is still windy but nowhere near as much as yesterday.

Kagura is fully open again today, and Iwappara is now fully open (well, all the courses are officially open anyway).

GALA has opened up more of the northern part and from today it is now possible to ride between GALA and Ishiuchi from the connecting run at the top.

In other Yuzawa resort news, all of the resorts in the town area are now at least part open. Most runs should be open at resorts, but it is best to check with the resort before you go just to make sure.

Another 20-30cm of snow to report since this morning and yet more to come - the forecasts have us down for another 20-40cm before 9am tomorrow and for the snow to continue into Sunday. It just does not stop!

So..... no worries about not having a white Christmas then :)
Just make sure you have lots of layers on and are ready for tons of powder!    Read more ...

After the calmer start to yesterday the heavier snow and winds arrived. This morning light snow is falling still but conditions are much comfortable for anyone heading out to the slopes. Great snow conditions out there as well to enjoy.

Ichinose Diamond and Kumanoyu are now planning to open up for nighta.   Read more ...
