Rain, fog, cloud
It is a cloudy and foggy morning - so much so that we can hardly see the mountains at all - and there's some rain coming down as well at the moment. The mornings are still fairly cold, but according to the forecast the clouds should clear up later on and it might turn into a fairly fine day with temperatures up to around 11 degrees.
So, what's still open? Resorts that are still at least part open:
Warm and sunny today in Hakuba, but quite windy. Slushy spring snow everywhere. Limited runs open and some bare patches at lower elevations. Use good wax to get the skis sliding and sun screen for the hight UV rays. Again take care in the backcountry as the sun will warm up the snow and it will be ready to slide, also some major cracks and exposed rocks so take care.
*AVALANCHE DANGER is now CONSIDERABLE*
Sunshine hitting southern slopes is creating multiple risks, including Size 2 loose avalanches. Use caution when traversing under southern slopes. New snow ranges from 0cm to 65-70cm in wind-scoured areas. Generally loose slides are in the upper twenty centimetres of the new snow.
Natural avalanches possible, human-triggered avalanches probable. Be increasingly cautious in steep terrain. Read more ...

After a decent weekend, today started off cloudy but quite a few of those clouds have moved on and it's a fair day. The next few days look set to be generally fine weather with temperatures generally getting warmer.
As well as the other resort areas, Yakebitaiyama will also be opening up again for Golden Week. During the period April 29th - May 7th, the number 2 gondola and the number 2 quad lift will be operating.
