Sunny and clear
Sunny, cold and hard snow today.
The snow really firmed up with some cold temperatures overnight; go out and walk right across the surface of the snow.... Looks like it will soften up with warm temperatures and a south wind gently blowing in today.
Not really any snow worth mentioning ahead, in fact. Oh, well, a spring spell before, maybe, hopefully, we get one more good powder session.
It is a really nice morning and as is usually the case with early morning clear skies, the temperature is cold. It is -11c as I write this up, and will head up to +1c by midday. There is no new snow to report, but yesterday's 1cm at base translated to a good 5-10cm at the top of the resort. Overnight the main runs have been nicely groomed and that powder from yesterday means there is a bit of fun to be had in the ungroomed areas.

Blue skies and sunshine
Good morning from my Hirafu base.
Interesting. I have 3cm of fresh snowfall to report to you this morning which was delivered overnight. Very good to see that. And I notice that some of the resorts are adding a bit of snow to their snow depths. Perhaps there might be closer to 10cm of fresh up top> I think we need to investigate - don't worry, I will take on said task. (The things I have to do!)
It is a lovely morning with blue skies and sunshine. Temperature under zero now but will probably rise a bit into positive numbers at base during the day.
As 8:30am approaches, it seems that all top lifts are not starting up right away due to gusty westerly winds up there. Details below as they are at 8:30am. Lots of people lining up waiting for those first lifts.
From data and observation the general avalanche risk is low. All peak gates are expected to be open. Please listen to the patrol's advice before going out the gates. Do not duck the ropes.
The atmospheric pressure gradient is getting steeper to the north and the wind is increasing. Beware of a sudden change in weather. Cold temperatures have kept the snow conditions hard, be careful falling and going for a long slide. To avoid getting caught in a large scale avalanche avoid riding in the valley bottoms. Although cornices seem stable, if they collapse the will cause a lot of damage. Expect pieces as big and heavy as a bus. Do not wait around under cornices. Have a good day.

Clear blue skies
Good morning all.
Apparently today is 'Yuki-no-hi' (Snow Day?). It might be more appropriate if it were dumping fresh fluffy stuff rather than the brilliant clear blue skies that we have this morning, but let's take some time to appreciate the snow anyway. As if we don't every day!
Quite a lot of cloud around during the day yesterday - even some limited visibility out on the slopes in some places - but it cleared up for a beautiful evening.
So yes. This morning it is blue skies and sunshine. Kimochi-ii!
It was cold overnight and early morning - it's going to be warming up though. Expect temps hitting around 8C in the village this afternoon.
So yes (2). Feels rather spring-like.
More sun tomorrow but probably more cloud.
Next snow? Forecasts currently say around Thursday.

Clear and sunny
Good morning from Yuzawa.
It did start snowing lightly yesterday and continued on and off in places during the day. No new cm of snow to report though.
Today, it is a beautiful Sunday morning. The sun is out. There are clear blue skies.
The snow around my place this morning is hard and crusty early morning. Groomers at the resorts should be a good choice. With temperatures warming up during the day (to around 8C in town this afternoon), conditions will be further softening up during the day.
Just an interesting bit of info I saw; Kagura were reporting a temperature of -9 high up early this morning.
Similar temps are forecast for tomorrow; maybe a bit more cloud. Not much sign of snow on the weekly forecast for the moment.
It's definitely spring-like conditions right now but it should be a fine day to be out on the mountains. I'm going to go enjoy it anyway.

Nozawa Onsen Now!
Sunday 24th February 2019, 9:05am
Good morning from Nozawa.
It's going to be a sunny day and while it was pretty cold overnight it will be warming up to around 5C at base this afternoon.
The groomers should be in good conditions this morning and it will certainly feel good to be out in this weather, even if it's now slicing through deep fluff.
For some new of that fluff, we can look and hope for something around Thursday with clearer skies likely before that.
Have a fun Sunday.

Morning from Naeba.
After a bit of light snow yesterday (just about managing 1cm for the report this morning), it's a cracker of a morning here. Bright blue skies, sunshine, not much wind. Yes, it feels good (though it does feel like spring).
Settled conditions likely through Wednesday with the chance of some fresh snowfall on Thursday. (We'll be gagging for it by then!)
Have fun. :)

Good morning from Zao.
Blue skies above! It's a beautiful morning in the region. The resort is still reporting a temperature of -9C as of 9am; it is currently 2C down at base now.
It might be a fine day but we could be doing with some fresh snow. Looks like we might have to wait until around Thursday for that, and it's an all Japan thing.
Fingers crossed that early March brings with it a return to more winter-like conditions.
We apologise for the disruption to our normal Zao Now reporting at the moment. Unfortunately this is unavoidable due to some personal circumstances. We are doing what we can to keep things going during this period and hope to get things back to normal soon. Thank you for your patience.

Shiga Kogen Now!
Sunday 24th February 2019, 10:11am
Clear and sunny
It was actually snowing yesterday and quite a bit for a short time too... it didn't last.
And this morning it's clear skies and spring-like sunshine. It definitely feels like the seasons are changing, though we all hope for more blasts of winter. We're probably going to have to wait until it becomes March before that happens. Or, maybe on Thursday. Would be a good way to end this month.
Before Thursday though we can mostly expect clearer skies and relatively mild temperatures.

Clear and sunny
The early Spring has been both cruel and kind. The former yesterday and the latter today.
No wind, blue skies, the snow softened right back into what fell two days before after being a bullet proof ice sheet yesterday. Today was a good one and there were about 300 mountaineers who went to the peak of Mt Tanigawa and only about 15 who slid back down.
There was top quality Spring corn on South Westerly aspects at around 1700m at 3pm. For the next few days, it's all about finding that creamy corn.
There is a hint of some weather starting Wednesday night. I have my hopes pinned on a full return to Winter but only time will tell.
