Niseko Now!

Weather conditions: Blizzard
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
I dusted 5cm of snow off of the car before work this morning, it was a little less than i was expecting it to be as it was coming down quite heavily last night. However if the current conditions continue through the day I will be clearing a lot more than 5cm off of my car by the time i finish work today - it is bucketing it down!

The snow forecast looks to be easing off a little later in the day with only light snowfall expected in the afternoon but we should get around 10cm before the end of the day.

Only one more sleep until Hirafu and Annupuri lifts open and it looks like the first official turns of the season will be taken during similar blizzard conditions as tomorrow morning looks to be similar to this mornings conditions. The evening however will most likely bring the rain that has been on the forecast for the last week with warm temperatures through until Monday morning. So, hopefully everybody takes their chance and gets out on Saturday!   Read more ...

Weather conditions: Cloudy
New snowfall: 1cm

After a very warm spell we are back into winter conditions today with sub zero temperatures from the base to the top of the mountain. There has been a dusting of snow overnight and there is some very light precipitation falling at the moment. After yesterdays thaw, expect conditions on the slopes to be firm underfoot. Furano Ropeway is operating for access to the upper mountain.   Read more ...

Yuzawa Now!

Weather conditions: Rain, snow up top
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
Well, we didn't really get snow falling yesterday - in fact we got a fair bit of sun from time to time - but today it's a proper wet and wintery kind of day. It has been swithcing between snow and rain in town most of the day but snowing up at Kagura and rather cold as well by all accounts.

Weather for the weekend looks like it should be friendlier with the clouds moving on tomorrow morning and perhaps us ending up with fine sunny weather into Sunday. In fact it still looks like we should be seeing warmer temperatures early next week and generally fine weather.

Not much in the way of snow on the forecast for the next six days unfortunately.

Anyway, Kagura are going to be operating the main quad lift up there for Saturday and Sunday giving us a longest course of 1.3km for weekend riders.

Have fun if you get up there!   Read more ...

Weather conditions: Cloud
New snowfall: --

Just a slight dusting early on this morning that fairly quickly disappeared and some flakes of snow and rain falling from time to time.

Come tomorrow though we are due a run of clear and sunny days and warmer temperatures as well.... temperatures in the village may hit double digits during the daytimes from Sunday to around Wednesday so we can't really be expecting much in terms of snow until later on next week.

Late edit: Hakuba Goryu and 47 plan to open upper slopes tomorrow morning....   Read more ...

Naeba Now!

Friday 25th November 2011, 17:19pm
Weather conditions: Rain > snow
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
It has been sort of snowing today in Naeba and only just in the last hour or so have the bottom slopes of the Naeba resort started to turn slightly white. So nothing major and we can't really expect much out of it tonight in terms of snowfall here I don't think. And when we get into tomorrow we should see clearer skies and the first of a number of days of clearer and warmer weather conditions. Not the best of news on the forecast front with no new snow likely until at least the last part of next week. Monday looks like it will be unseasonably warm as the forecast stands now.

Kagura will be open through all of that of course though and actually they have decided to open a bit more just for the weekend. Tomorrow and Sunday the top quad lift at Kagura will be operating in addition to the pair lift that has been open since Wednesday. A longer stretch will be open too, totalling 1,300m of skiable course.    Read more ...

Bit more snow falling up top. Cloud hovering over Tanigawadake but it is cold enough to drop a bit of a dusting when it is not raining. It looks like winter up at Tenjin now with 15 cms on the resort and a bit more due to fall over the next few days.   Read more ...
