Good morning and welcome back to the Myoko Now reports.
It was a long and hot summer in Japan this year, Myoko included, but over the last few weeks temperatures have dropped and we are now very much into autumn season with chilly mornings and evenings and comfortable daytimes.
The beautiful 'koyo' mountain colours are a little later this time round, but they are looking good now. What made them look even more amazing was the snow that was seen on the top of Mt Myoko a few days ago.... that first sprinkling of snow on the mountain is always great to see.

It is an absolutely stunning Friday morning here in Niseko, ending a pretty wet and cold week that saw snow on both Youtei and Annupuri in stops and starts.
Midweek saw quite a liberal coating cover the flanks of Yotei almost down to Kutchan town level but this was gone pretty quickly as temperatures rose slightly towards the end of the week. The rain and mist has cleared today leaving a completely cloudless sky and revealing a substantial snow cap on Youtei that looks thick enough to hang around a while. Have a great weekend all.
The road up to Goshiki onsen closed this morning - another sure sign that winter is well on the way!
Niseko hopes to have ski lifts open from November 23rd this season and so we are now just 4 weeks away. Read more ...
