Well the time has arrived when I can say winter has started in Furano. We are in a pattern of regular frosts in the morning and cool days. The town is looking very picturesque with the the last of the autumn foliage contrasting with the beautiful blue skies . It won't be long until all the autumn leaves have fallen from the trees and the ground starts to change from reds and yellows, to white. So far there have been two snowfalls to village level. 2cm on October 17 and 2cm last Sunday. This is pretty early to get snow to the village so I am hoping that is a pointer to a good snow year. The upper half of the ski area has a thin cover of white which will start to fill in over the next few weeks. In the lead up to the resort opening, Furano Now will be posting regular updates on conditions and weather events...so stay tuned. Read more ...
