Some high thin cloud but going to be a fine day
Yesterday was a really beautiful day.
Sunshine, blue skies, calm... and a very comfortable warmth.
And today is going to be another lovely day. There's some high thin cloud up there but it's due to be clear and sunny once again... and probably warmer than yesterday with a high of around 23C expected.
These lovely conditions are set to continue through until Friday, with a bit of rain currently on the forecast for Saturday.
Today is a national holiday - as is tomorrow and Friday. Places will be popular, early start recommended!
There is still excellent snow cover at Kagura and GALA Yuzawa. Things are much more patchy at the lower Kandatsu Kogen resort but it remains open, and Naeba is patchy on lower slopes but you can still ski or board back down to base. More info below.

Fine and sunny, some thin cloud
Good morning everyone.
It's the first day of the long '5-day-weekend' and we are expecting fine weather conditions over the next three days. Temperatures may rise to 20 degrees and over so it will be nice and warm too.
Well, fine weather - apart from the wind.
Unfortunately, it's windy up top early on and both resorts appear to be "on hold" for the start of the day. I have to post this report now as I am off to Sapporo today, but if you are wanting to ski or board please do check with the resorts for the official latest on that.
There's still a bit of rain lined up for Saturday with Sunday - the last day of the official ski season in Niseko - getting back to clearer skies.
5 more days to go folks. Hopefully, today the lifts will get to open.

Welcome to the start of Golden Week holidays. The crowds haven't reached Furano yet but the holiday weather certainly has. Temperatures will be cranked up to a very pleasant level with the maximum off 22c expected around noon. Currently it is 13c at base and 9c at the top of the resort. Snow conditions are spring snow getting slushy early on due to not only the temperature, but full sunshine from early morning. The key will be not to overdress, but having said that I have spotted several out of towners walking around in jackets, hats and facemasks. Either they plan to sweat it out or will be removing some of that pretty quickly. Read more ...

Fair blue skies
Good morning from Grandeco.
It is a warm sunny morning with a gentle south wind. Full-on comfortable spring weather!
Snow conditions as you might expect them to be with no fresh and warmer temperatures, but still a full 4km of courses available.
Course conditions will likely change quickly this morning with the strong sunshine and warm conditions. Some courses may need to be closed from tomorrow depending on how the snow conditions are.
Sunscreen and sunglasses are very much needed on a day like today, which is of course the first day of the main section of Golden Week.
Grandeco plans to be open through until Sunday.

80% courses now open. Lavender A, Lavender 28, Mint B and Center 33 course are closed. The Snow Parks are now closed.

Appi Kogen Now!
Wednesday 3rd May 2017, 13:13pm
Clear blue skies
It’s Golden week at Appi and it’s the last official week you’ll be able to ski for the 2017 Season.
Clear blue skies today with very light winds and a warm 18 degrees at the base. The crews have been working overtime to move what snow we have left to the central runs to make sure they’re open this week. It may look threadbare but its still lots of fun out there. Shorts, T-Shirt, sunscreen and skis are all you need today to end the season with a bang.
The next few days should be quite busy here and although the snow is still melting the few runs that remain open will be busy. They’ll be a full season report coming your way soon. Until then I’m heading out to grab some slush...
Planned operating lifts at time of report (subject to change due to weather conditions):
Appi Gondola Central quad Central number 2 Central number 3A Central number 4
