Hakuba Now!

Sunday 4th December 2005, 8:36am
Weather conditions: Clear Blue bird
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
As expected it is a beautiful blue bird powder day, the ones dreams and great memories are made of. So if you are in Hakuba or are just heading out the door to go for your first of the year shred you are the lucky ones. If you are stuck in Sunday traffic in Tokyo - better luck next week!

There was copious amounts of snow over the last couple of days and our base is nearing the 1 metre mark. The peaks of Hakuba are in perfect view from the valley and the slopes are all white to the valley. More snow is on it's way through the week and more lifts should be opening along with the smaller hills in the valley next weekend.
See you out there!    Read more ...

Hard to imagine it can get any better than this. Over a foot of fresh powder and clear skies to enjoy it in this morning. The winds have abated and we have the best conditions of the season so far. Much of the sasa grass on the higher slopes has been covered and and off piste areas are providing deep powder turns. Night skiing began last night meaning 12+ hours a day to enjoy all the new snow.    Read more ...

Since last night it has been snowing on and off, but right now this morning it's just cloudy - and while it has been snowing since Friday night for the most part there isn't enough on the slopes of Iwappara for them to open up yet... they are reporting just 20cm on the slopes.

Kagura are doing better with over 110cm of the white stuff up there now and all of their slopes now open.   Read more ...

The whole Nozawa Onsen region is covered in snow, including the village rooftops and streets. Sunny, still conditions today should make for an awesome day on the slopes. The main gondola is operational with only a hand full of people up top at Yamabiko chair lift. A few more dumps and the entire resort should be fully up and running with very thick snow cover to help make it all that much better. More snowfall expected over the next few days.   Read more ...
