Cloud, fine, sunny
Cloud in the sky this morning but right now it is bright with a fair bit of blue sky and the sun is out. The forecast has us down for some rain this evening though with just cloud for tomorrow. Tomorrow is the last of the national holidays in Japan and for many the last day of the Golden Week holidays with Thursday back to work! It's also the last day open for Naeba and the Tashiro part of the Kagura resort, so come Thursday the only skiing and snowboarding left open will be Kagura (access via the Mitsumata Ropeway).
Official resort snow depths @ 5th May 09, AM: Mt Naeba: 80cm Kagura Tashiro: 150cm Kagura: 190cm

Nozawa Onsen Now!
Tuesday 5th May 2009, 11:38am
Yesterday was more cloudy but we have been spared any rain these last few days of the season. Today is similar conditions but right now the sun is out and casting shadows on the slopes. It's a warm one as well with a temperature of around 20 degress in the village and even up on the mountain top it is in double figures.
Just 60cm of snow (officially) on Yamabiko, but the courses are getting thin now as the snow continues to melt away with the warm temperatures. It is perhaps surprisingly quiet today with fewer people up there than I thought there would be.....
Just one more day to go now - tomorrow is the last day open for Nozawa this season. Last chance! Read more ...
