Saturday 6th April 2013, 10:00am
Weather conditions: Fine but clouding over and other stuff due later!
New snowfall: 0cm
Snow depth: 110cm
The day started off fine today but it's quickly turning and later on we expect stronger winds and rain to be falling - even up at Kagura. We can definitely expect the lifts to be affected and possibly all of Kagura to be closed.

Rain and windy conditions are supposed to carry on into Sunday as well so it's not going to be a pick of the season this weekend!

Last day of the season for Naeba tomorrow!

Kagura - 370cm

Planned closing dates:

Myoko Now!

Saturday 6th April 2013, 10:01am
Weather conditions: Sunny clouding
New snowfall: 0cm
Snow depth: 210cm
The day started out sunny in Myoko, but the winds are starting to pick up before the arrival of a massive low-pressure cell that the Japanese weather report was calling a mini-typhoon.

Check before going out today; gondola operations are likely to be affected, which would mean both Akakan and Suginohara would have to shut down (no gondola, no getting up).

The other side to the wind is that the snow is disappearing before our eyes....

After that really warm day yesterday, today doesn't look set to be quite as... though still probably rise to around 15 degrees at village level and 7-8 degrees higher up.

A cloudy start to the day but later on rain is going to be moving in and by the sounds it quite possibly heavy rain along with strong winds in many areas, we'll just have to see how we fare here in Hakuba.

From Monday clearer conditions look like they'll settle in for the week.

[Originally posted earlier this morning - late appearance due to technical issues]

Good morning from Niseko once again. Not too many of those left this season, though it feels like I've been posting reports forever but today an afternoon one makes a change.

Hope you like the new look of the reports on the main site. Looks pretty good doesn't it? And now we have some interesting data and graphs on there too (valid for reports this season, not the archives).

Oh ok sorry, you want a weather report too! Well we have had a cloudy day here with some winds messing around with a few lifts.

Rain and strong winds due tonight and into tomorrow.

Furano Now!

Saturday 6th April 2013, 13:51pm
Weather conditions: Partly cloudy
New snowfall: 0cm
Snow depth: 160cm
Spring is continuing its slow advance into the Furano valley. After a relatively cold day yesterday, today is feeling much warmer. Temperatures took a brief dip below freezing overnight, but have already rebounded to 9 degrees by this, the early afternoon. Things are relatively quiet today, with partly cloudy skies and warm temperatures. However, a front passing through the area will bring widespread rain, heavy at times, into the area for the latter half of the weekend. Winds have already started to pick up a little, but should only intensify as we move into the evening and the storm approaches.

If you're looking to get in some spring skiing, today is your day. Tomorrow is shaping up to be a serious rain event, so get in a few runs while you can!   Read more ...

Weather conditions: Cloud
New snowfall: 0cm

[Originally posted earlier this morning - late appearance due to technical issues]

As yesterday the day started off fine here today but now that we are into the afternoon the rain has started.

Strong winds too as forecast and the conditions have affected resorts around town with Gala Yuzawa and Kagura closed and limitations elsewhere.... not the best of days by all accounts.

The winds may ease off somewhat tomorrow but rain is likely to continue

Nozawa Onsen Now!

Saturday 6th April 2013, 18:13pm
Weather conditions: Cloud
New snowfall: 0cm
Snow depth: 245cm
[Originally posted earlier this morning - late appearance due to technical issues]

Not the nicest of days in Nozawa all told. As we make it into the afternoon naughty strong winds and rain team up against the people here for the weekend and the wind has caused some disruption to the lifts with curiously some lower slopes now open rather than the upper ones. Not all of course as down below there are large patches of ground on show.

Hopefully things will improve tomorrow, if only for the wind conditions and we can get back up top open once again. The rain seems likely to continue though through the morning perhaps clearing up later in the day.
