Hakuba Now!

Sunday 7th May 2006, 9:26am
Weather conditions: Rain and overcast
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
The rain has come after an excellent 5 days of sunshine and expected to stay with us throughout the day. Rain should stop by this evening and we expect clear skies again tomorrow. There is still fun spring snow up there to ski/board so get up there for the last day this week, or until they open the Gondola again - please see yesterday's report for dates.

Continue to be cautious of Surfice Springs slides and remember that now more than before we can expect more Slides to the ground and from old week layers around ice layers. Continue to use good route finding skills and common sense while touring to all those lines you have been scoping all season.   Read more ...

Nozawa Onsen Now!

Weather conditions: Cloud, rain
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
After a generally very fine Golden Week of weather, today is the last day of the season here in Nozawa - and still there is officially 280cm at Yamabiko (though in reality not evenly spread out!)

At the time of writing this it isn't raining, but it is cloudy and looks like it could rain any time and rain is still on the forecast and so expected.   Read more ...

Yuzawa Now!

Sunday 7th May 2006, 10:30am

It was raining overnight and earlier this morning but at the time of writing the rain has eased off. Rain is forecast for pretty much all of today though, so it can be expected. Temperatures to rise to aroun 20 degrees at town level later on in the day.

So, the last day of the season for a few more resorts - from tomorrow only Kagura will be left open, but they plan to be open in part until 28th May.   Read more ...

Niseko Now!

Sunday 7th May 2006, 15:08pm
Weather conditions: Blue Skies
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
Well the last couple of days have just been perfect with clear skies and very mild temps. Today was supposed to be the last day of the season but the resort has announced that due to the continuing great cover the resort will continue opening on the weekends. At this rate we may even be able to get some lifted skiing into June.

Most of the snow has now melted off the fields down on the plains but it will still be another week or so before all of it is gone. In the village there is still a general cover but it is thinning out quickly and should be all gone in the next couple of weeks. Still there will probably be a few patches lasting until June. Pretty amazing at only 250m asl. Up on the peaks the snow should last well into July.    Read more ...
