Weather conditions: Cloud

After Blizzard-like conditions yesterday it looks much better today. The strong winds have stoped and you'll be able to go up to the top again, which was not possible yesterday. The powder at Yamabiko should still be untouched!

Challenger, Utopia and especially Schneider were a bit tricky to ski yesterday, as you could partly still feel the ice underneath the fresh snow. It seemed to be easier for the boarders.    Read more ...

Weather conditions: Light snow > clearing up?
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
Temperatures around -2 this morning and about 10cm more of new snow since last night. Very good news.

Snow is falling lightly right now but it looks like it may be clearing up with some breaks in the clouds.

Today and this weekend will be excellent out there if you are lucky enough to be able to check it out.

Another update coming later this afternoon.

The snow clouds have cleared up now and blue skies appearing here and there in between the remaining clouds. With the new snowfall over the last day or so, the weekend should be excellent. There is a chance of more snow over the long weekend. A new picture has been uploaded below.

Enjoy the weekend.   Read more ...

Weather conditions: Light snow > clearing up

After the snow storms of yesterday, the clouds are now clearing as we speak and it looks like it should be a fine day here. Temperatures still low, it's very cold, and a fantastic setting and conditions going into the weekend with all the new snow we got yesterday. Some great powder out there, and not that many people riding it!   Read more ...

Weather conditions: Sun, cloud

Yesterday's strong winds blew through 'til evening time, disrupting lift services, but also shifting lots of snow. Only a little new snow fell overnight, however, deep powder has settled all over the mountain. Once again Strawberries and the valley below Hana 3 are bottomless, and combined with this morning's sunshine, the run off the peak is magical. Avalanche awareness, as well as exposed wind-blown area caution is required.

Late update:

Warmer temperatures softened the snow and made for good turns on the lower half of the mountain. The wind affected areas are still hard, but a dose of new snow should take care of that. Currently, the sun is out and temperatures are mild. It's a great afternoon for cruising around the mountain.    Read more ...

Hakuba Now!

Weather conditions: Crystal clear today
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
Crystal clear skies here today, with the added bonus of powder on all the ungroomed upper runs that remained closed yesterday due to the high winds. Even after settling, it should still have been up to knee deep on course. The winds will also have created very deep conditions in the stashes offpiste. Cold temperatures mean little moisture in the snow, so I'm sure there will have been long glittering trails following all today's sliders.

The groomers too are in A1 condition.

Clear weather is forecast for Saturday, with more snow expected on Saturday night.   Read more ...
