Happo is always a good day, especially if you can get there early. Had some great first runs on the speedy groomers that were chopped up by the end of the day. The visibility was pretty shot at some times and even heading up to the top didn't help things and in fact made it worse, and not much better down the bottom.

Being a Saturday there were loads of people as were expected, meaning the runs got chopped up.

I've been twice now and both times the weather was great. If you like skiing or riding the half pipe it's pretty damn good probably 4/5 especially for Nagano.

HOWEVER if like me you prefer the snowpark don't bother - go to Hakuba 47 it's a much better resort all round for snowboarders.

Also still yet to find a resort with anything like a European nightlife, but I guess I'm asking too much

Fantastic snow, and enough cloud to ensure that the slopes were pretty much empty. Rode better powder than I ever have in Europe, and generally had a fantastic time.

The left hand side of the mountain was much more crowded than further right. And the slopes were better there too - can now boast about having done an olympic downhill run!

Loved every minute, and would go again tomorrow

The most popular place for skiers from what I saw. Numbers and numbers of dweeby neon coloured skiers just really annoyed me.

But yeah the run was good.

Would be better if it wasnt compacted.

The view of Happo mountain is majectic.

I stayed at snowbeds (best deal in Hakuba) and behind it, the towering mountain was just breathtaking

Happo is gigantic...one of the biggest in Japan. That said, it is not hard to find a lot of varied terrain there. The groomers are great, but could be a bit wider (considering the size of the resort...). Only problem with groomers are the crowds...happo attracts lots of people and it can get crowded fast...be careful when skiing fast!

The off-piste is great...nice tree runs and looks like plenty of other treasures around as well..
