Having skied throughout Europe I was entering the unknown of skiing in Japan.
All I have to say now is that it is beyond outstanding!!
Staying in the beautiful Sierra Resort Hakuba, we were shuttled daily to different points to start our skiing.
On arrival I headed straight to the slopes of Nakiyama for some night skiing which was great to dust off the cobwebs. The slope would be appropriate for beginners up wards and even for children to do sledging at
We actually skied Happo One, Goryu/47 and Tsugaike Kogen.
Mixed ability family who all enjoyed the fantastic conditions, great variety of terrain and unbelievable hospitality from the locals.
On this latter point, the contrast between warring with the Germans to try to get a beer at the Café Sailer in St. Anton, Austria, and enjoying a discourse with the hugely welcoming and friendly Japanese in any mountain or resort café/restaurant, could not be greater.
