I like this place.

I live about 40 minutes drive away so it's one of my "locals", and I will be going there quite a lot this season. The mountain is big, wide and gets decent snow. Ski or board down the mens downhill course and any of a whole load more with lots to choose from. There's even a McDonalds on the hill, whethere that is good or not you decide!

Definitely a place

I love this resort, and when I go to Japan always go there.

But I always want to be there for a longer time. It's a big place with lots of runs, and when we have been it usually had really good snow too.

Go there

The top of the mountain has a couple great steep runs, with a few good bumps here and there. However, Happo is subject to high winds and lift closures at the top of the mountain. I have never experienced such a white-out before in my life. I couldn't see the ends of my skis!

Well, I decided to make my first foray into Japanese snow, so last weekend I opted for Hakuba and Happo-one.

As a boarder, I had been warned that Happo still remains a skier-dominated resort and while this is undoubtedly true, the sheer variety of runs and scope for taking detours off course means that most boarders should be well satisfied.

Having said that, I never even found the board park and seemed to have had the unerring knack of heading straight

I was learning to snowboard here.

Very good long beginner slopes which are not too crowded where you can learn to board. As your skills improve there are many gradually more challenging slope to try.

Very nice resort
