Sugadaira review by seanbrophy
A lot of people mention that Sugadaira is a bit small, but there are a VERY large number of runs, and there is always some fun to be found up the sides or cutting a few corners off. I have just started teaching my daughter to board, and the longest lift at Davos is excellent for this. Three slightly different slopes to the bottom, managable for beginner but it is also possible to cut off one corner through a vast

Kashimayari Sports Village review by powder hunter
It was a great, great day.

Played in the powder under the lifts, but the best times were had finding untouched lines through the trees.

Plenty of waist-deep powder and steep pitches, and the ski patrol seemed pretty relaxed about our off-piste explorations.

Some of the softest, fluffiest powder I've skied for a while. The lifts run efficiently and there were few lineups.

An absolutely great, great day and it's continuing to dump snow, so tomorrow

Sugadaira Kogen review by jamin
Had a rad time, it was a little flat but there were some pretty cool spots under lifts and other things, the first time boarders liked the intro that this mountain offered, lots of terrain was covered kids dodged and fun had!

But then isn't anytime in the mountains gonna be cool as all hell!!

Kawaba review by slimeypete
Kawaba is growing to be one of my fave places. They get some incredibly good conditions up there - you almost wouldn't think it was Gunma - and it is not too busy as it never seems to be as popular as it should be. I'm ok with that though, we wouldn't want it crowded out.

All round good place.

Interesting setup too with the multistorey car park with the resort center on the top floor with the

Good for an early season blast but not a great deal there.

Probably get bored after a few hours.

Wouldn't recommend it to beginners either

Iwappara review by tb
I spend Christmas in Yuzawa, teaching my girlfriend how to snowboard.

The first day of our 4-day trip was in Iwappara.

I chose this place because it is perfect for the complete beginner.

Really wide not very steep main area, with good coverage of lifts and not very busy even on weekends.

We arrived there after an 80 cm dump and it was still snowing all day. Although I spent most of my time in the main gelende, I had some really nice runs

Sapporo Teine review by pjm
Good hill very close to Sapporo. The ticket I bought was good for both sections of the mountain. You take a gondola from one section to another. White out snow conditions for part of the day. Great powder all day. The highland section was much better than Olympia. The lodge and restaurant situation was not the best.

Highly recommend at least one day here if staying in Sapporo. SO close to the city.

Iwappara review by Matt
This was my first ski experience in Japan, and I couldn't ask for more. T

ricky at the top for Beginners and Intermediates, a leisurely day out for experts looking for a nice smooth run, except when they hit the moguls

Kurumayama Kogen review by lachystar
For a 4500 yen bus deal, I probably shouldn't complain but what the hell... Only three lifts on the bottom half of the mountain were operating. (They haven't finished making the courses higher up yet they said - go figure.)

The longest run was less than 2minutes. Even the ramen was boring.

There might be some challenging terain accessible from the top with another metre of snow, but I won't be going back to find out

Grandeco Snow Resort review by
Grandeco had really great snow the two days I was there. It was not crowded, in fact, I think the longest I ever waited for a lift, was about 30 seconds: even on Sunday.

It's a great drive up the mountian, but I wouldn't want to do it without studless tires: having 4WD also helped. Mind you, I'm known to do just a little over the speed limit.

I guess Gran Deco is best suited to beginers or familys. There's not little

Decent enough little place.

Great view from the top.

Very little crowds.

Not for anyone intermediate level or above due to lack of challenging runs.

Glad I went once to check it but probably won't be back

Zao Onsen review by mariute
The place is beautiful even with bad weather. There are runs a bit for everybody ... though not extremely challanging. The snow was great and fresh and was left untouched on the runs most of the times, so I found deep snow very often on the slopes.

The place is not huge if compared to resorts in Europe but I did not expect too much anyway. Connections among different lifts is very bad ...I had to walk several times.

The place was

Muikamachi Ski Resort review by Crunky Muncher
I'm giving Minami a 3. It was a solid resort with some good slopes, but not enough variety.

But for all that it was a great place to start the season. Blue skies all day on Saturday led to icy conditions on a slightly (in my opinion) over-groomed course. But the lack of people there meant we had the place to ourselves. There was no waiting at lifts, no congestion at the top, and plenty of space on the slopes.

The topmost

Spring Valley Izumi Koge review
Okay, so this is the second time that I've been snowboarding, so anything at the moment is great. It was a bit of a hassle that the bus didnt go up to the top, but from next week it will be. Its greatest asset is that it is easy to get there and doesnt take to long.

The beginner slope was great to learn on and take a few tumbles, however there were a million other people on this slope also

Winghills Shirotori Resort review by Mike44
Go here on a weekday and you will love the lack of crowds, this particular day it snowed all day surface conditions were near perfect tohough visibility was not great. Treacherous downhill winding narrow road this particular day the road was icy and traffic stopped completely for 3 hours

A 2 hour drive home turned into 6 - the Resort must do more to ensure the road remains ice free (Salt/Sand other??) The resort itself when uncrowded is GREAT!
