Muikamachi Ski Resort review by James Gowans
I came here many times in my first season last year and still enjoy it. It's very accesible (3kms from the highway) and prices are reasonable too. But the main advantage of this ski-jo over the bigger resorts is that it's normally pretty quiet, so you have plenty of space on the slopes.

The courses here are fairly short, but there is a good enough variety to suit begginner - intermediate boarders. Advanced boarders may want somewhere with more challenging sections.

The snow here was good, although in Niigata, the further south and east you go, the more snow you get, making Yuzawa superior in this respect.

The restaurant offers the standard fayre (curry-rice, ramen etc.), but most importantly, you can normally get a seat!
Date visited: From January, 2005
Snow condition on visit: Good, but a little rough, icy later
Things I liked: Never very busy, good for beginners
Things I didn't like: Not so many runs
