Have a season pass and have been a few times this season. The best thing about this place (apart from being the closest for me) is the cheap season pass. 25000 yen and includes parking. Not bad for a medium sized resort. I think the fact that most places in Fukushima prefecture charge 1000 yen for parking is ridiculous. Space isn't a problem and it doesn't require much maintenance.
Hatoriko doesn't get a much snow as Aizu way and they have struggled a bit this season. Only after the snow this week were they able to fully open. They plan to open until the start of April but I'll believe it when i see it.
Anyway, the powder dump this week was great. Even after turning up after lunch I was able to find some fresh runs on the left side courses. Most people hung around the middle and to the right. As mentioned by a previous reviewer, there looks to be some good clean runs underneath the quad, but didn't take it on cause i was by myself. There are some flat spots to beware of though, at the end coming back to the quad and at the top if you go right. Bit annoying but can be overcome.
Japanese folks will tell you the road there is treacherous and to go without a 4wd will be putting your life at risk but I've been doing okay in my 2wd Impreza wagon. It has some steep hills and hairpin curves but is not as bad as some make out. Haven't really seen it iced over badly yet, so hope i survive the season.
The lifts here are pretty slow and uncovered, with some tough off ramps when iced up. Beginners better learn quick.
The park isn't fully running yet, though looks like the will be opening a rather large jump soon. They have also been moving around a box thoughout the place, who knows where it'll be next time.
This place will tide me over this season as a good practise ground. Give me a wave if you see me cause I'll be there most weekends.
Snow condition on visit:
Things I liked:
Cheap season pass, fairly long courses
Things I didn't like:
Slowish lifts, not much of a challenge, some flat spots
