Thanks guys
Thank you to SnowJapan and HPG Hanazono Powder Guide for the prize of guiding for a day at Niseko.

Myself and my companions from The Old Farts Militia have been coming to Niseko for the past three years and have experienced the powder and tree skiing within the resort however we recognised we had neither the equipment or the experience to go out of bounds and experience the back country. That’s where Peter our guide came in.

After some test runs we hiked the peak with 100s of other keen powder nuts. It didn’t look like we’d find virgin powder with so many other skiers around however Peter knew where to look. We skied down a ridge ignored by other skiers due to its icy surface however the surprise was what lay below. An open powder bowl with no one else to compete with. What followed was the best powder we'd ever skied and well worth the hike.

For skiers like us, having the ability however lacking the equipment and local knowledge, guiding is a must. Not just for our protection but for our enjoyment.

I’d recommend it to anyone.

Thanks again to Snowjapan for the opportunity.
