It's getting good!
Suginohara has long runs (especially good for boarders apparently, since they don't have to buckle and unbuckle as much) and cold snow conditions. The gondola is expensive so buy a day ticket or 4-hour ticket (which I did) rather than the individual tickets for each lift. Look online at their website for deals on lift tickets with meals or drinks, etc. They might be slightly better. Lovely views (on a sunny day) of the Northern Alps in the distance and Lake Nojiri below. They claim you can see Mt. Fuji when conditions are good.

I am an intermediate skier.
Date visited: From 31 December, 2017 To 31 December, 2017
Snow condition on visit: Excellent. There was a heavy snowfall earlier in December and fresh snow has added to the base; more is on the way (Jan 3).
Things I liked: Long runs, good snow conditions, fast lifts, no crowding (even on Dec. 31st).
Things I didn't like: It's hard to know where to go to eat. There are a number of options and limited information about what's available at each. Restaurant crowding was a problem, and the food where I ate was 'meh' (yakiniku donburi).
