Ski Japan Katsuyama (often known as Ski Jam or 'Jamkatsu') is located to the east of central area of Katsuyama city in the north eastern region of Fukui Prefecture. The small Karigahara is close by. Ski Jam Katsuyama has been operating since 1993 and is one of the larger and more popular resorts in this region - and certainly the largest in Fukui Prefecture. Many people visiting from the Chubu and Kansai regions.
The resort has three main official areas - Variety, Fantasy and Illusion. A number of ungroomed courses are available in the highest Illusion area, along with a 37 degree slope. For the 2020-2021 season, six lifts will be operating. The Family Pair and Illusion Quad A lifts will be rested for the season, but available terrain remains unchanged.
Fukui Prefecture is in the Chubu region of central Japan, facing the Sea of Japan. It borders Ishikawa to the north, Gifu to the east and Kyoto and Shiga to the south. Most of the ski hills in Fukui Prefecture are found in the north eastern region to the east of the capital, Fukui city.

Children's facilities
The 'Be-Kids Park' has a Sledding Area, Yuki-Asobi (playing in the snow) Area, Snowboard Aresa and Ski Area. Entry is 1,000 yen for 1 day. It is found in the lower Variety area and open from 9:00am until 4:00pm (until 4:30pm from February).
There is also a 'Snow Land' featuring banana boat rides (500 yen per person) near base, open from 1:00pm until 4:00pm on weekends and holidays between 26th December 2020 and 14th March 2021.
The 'Jam Kids' child care service for children above 6 months age will not be open for the 2020-2021 season.

From 1st February 2021 until the end of the season, the ski area is open until 5:00pm.
There is no night skiing at Ski Jam Katsuyama.

2020-2021 Season Lift Tickets
A returnable 500 yen deposit is required for lift tickets.
A 'Grand Senior' ticket is available for those age 60 years and over. It costs 3,800 yen for 1 day; 6,600 yen for 2 days; 3,600 yen for a half day.
A 'Kids Debut' ticket is available that includes access to the Variety pair lift, Family pair lift (weekends) and entry to the kids park. It costs 3,400 yen for adults and 1,600 yen for children.

Ski Jam Katsuyama is about 30km from Fukui Kita IC on the Hokuriku Expressway (and about 13km from the Katsuyama IC on the Chubu Jukan Expressway).
Parking is available at the base of the resort for around 3,400 cars. Car parking is free but a toll is required for the road that leads up to the resort. That fee is 1,350 yen return.
