Dynaland is located in the northern area of Gujo city in the central region of Gifu Prefecture. The resort is on the eastern slopes of Mt Dainichi, is part of the Ryohaku mountain range. The resort has been operating since 1972 though not originally under the name Dynaland. It is lift and course-connected with the Takasu Snow Park resort and a shared lift ticket is available. Together, they are currently known as... 'Dantotsu'.
Along with Takasu Snow Park, the connected area boasts 33 courses and 43km of ski courses, including some tree run courses in the Dynaland side and ungroomed mogul areas at Takasu.
New for 2019-2020, a bunch of ski resorts in the area grouped up to create 'Takasu Mountains' and a joint lift ticket is available. The resorts included are Dynaland, Takasu Snow Park, Hirugano Kogen, White Pia Takasu, Washigatake and Gujo Vacance Village (though curiously the joint ticket is not valid at that last one).
Most of the ski and snowboard resorts in Gujo city are located on the mountains either side of the Tokai Hokuriku Expressway which connects Aichi Prefecture with Toyama Prefecture and the local road Route 156 (Hida Highway) which also runs through the valley. This region is especially popular with people living in or visiting the Kansai regions of western Japan like Nagoya, Gifu, Shiga, Kyoto and Osaka. Train links aren't the most convenient and so this region sees most people arriving by car or bus tours.
Gifu Prefecture is located in the Chubu region of the central region of Honshu island, and it one of only a handful of landlocked prefectures. It shares borders with (from the north) Toyama, Nagano, Aichi, Mie, Shiga, Fukui and Ishikawa. Most of the ski and snowboard resorts in Gifu are located in the northern region of the prefecture – in Gujo city, Takayama city, Hida city and Shirakawa village.
Ski and snowboard lessons are available at Dynaland.
