Kurumayama Kogen SKYPARK is located by the side the Venus Line road in Chino city in the Kirigamine highland region of central eastern Nagano Prefecture. The ski courses of this resort are located on the eastern slopes of Kurumayama and it is one of the larger resorts in the immediate area. Beautiful mountain scenery - including views of Mt Fuji and the North, Central and South Alps - can enjoyed on a clear day. This ski resort has been operating since 1965. The resort was previously known as just Kurumayama Kogen but for the 2017-2018 season, the new official name has changed to Kurumayama Kogen SKYPARK.
There are a number of ski and snowboard resorts scattered around the mountainous area that stretches from Kirigamine highland and Kurumayama to the north, over to Lake Shirakaba and Mt Tateshina a little further to the east and then Mt Yokodake and the Yatsugatake mountain range further south. This region usually gets a relatively large amount of clearer weather conditions and does not usually receive as much snow as other highland areas. The region is part of the Yatsugatake Chushin Kogen Quasi-National Park and is a popular tourist destination throughout the year.
Nagano Prefecture is located in the Chubu region of the main island of Honshu. Most of the Northern Alps, Central Alps and Southern Alps are located within Nagano (along with neighbouring prefectures). Nagano has the second highest number of ski and snowboard resorts in all of Japan and they are spread around the whole prefecture. Nagano city and many of the major ski resorts are located in the northern region.

At the time of writing more than 40% of the ski hills in Japan have still not updated their own information for the upcoming season - even some of the larger ones! We are continuing to manually check and update information within SnowJapan on a daily basis, but for the moment things remain a mix of new and old. In most cases ski resorts open and close around the same dates each season, so even if the planned season dates shown on this page are still from the 2017-2018 season, that is usually a good indication of what to expect this time round.
