Tateshina Tokyu is a ski area located in Chino City in the central-eastern region of Nagano Prefecture.
This small ski area has one 310m pair lift and is suited to families and beginners. There is an emphasis on beginners, families with children, and various playing-in-the-snow activities.
It describes itself as a 'private snow resort', presumably implying it does not get too busy.
Tateshina Tokyu is usually closed on Mondays through Thursdays between early January and late February.
There are a number of ski areas in the highland region around Lake Shirakaba, between Mt Kirigamine and Mt Tateshina, and within Chino City, Tateshina Town, Nagawa Town and Suwa City.
This region usually enjoys a relatively large amount of clear weather conditions during the winter. As a result, it does not generally receive as much snowfall as some other highland areas.
The Yatsugatake Chushin Kogen Quasi-National Park is a popular tourist destination throughout the year.
